Abstract

The renal effect of prolonged hypokailemia is associated wit renal scarring, formation of renal cysts and renal insufficiency. We recently experienced a patient with primary hyperaldosteronism who had suffered from intermittent muschle cramp,
polyuria
for 6 yearsl without treatment. The abdomen CT rinding showed renal cysts and nephrocalcinosis in both kidneys, especially confined to medulla. We excluded other diseases which may lead to nephrocalcinosis by clinical, biochemical and radiologic
findings. It was suggested that chronic hypokalemia may be one of cause of renal cyst and nephrocalcinosis.
